The cost varies depending on the affiliation option you choose, the exam(s) you will be taking and the state(s) you will be doing business in. For most of our Advisors the total initial fees will run between $370 and $1,000. This fee includes everything to get started including your regulatory fees, state fees, exam fees, background check and study materials. The H.D. Vest Recruiting department can help you in determining the actual fees for you to join H.D. Vest. This will depend on your affiliation type and the state(s) you do business in. For most Advisors the annual renewal fees will run about $1,000. Theses fees include your state fees, bonding and audit fees. Where else are you going to be able to start and run a business for such a small amount? You will be billed for your renewal fees on your September 15th commission statement. The fees you will be billed for are for the upcoming year. You can choose to pay by credit card or by having your commissions debited as long as there are enough commissions generated to cover the fees by December.
Unlike many of our competitors we do not require our Advisors to carry E&O insurance. We do, however, strongly recommend that in this type of business our Advisors protect themselves by purchasing E&O Insurance. We have a partnership with Wells Fargo Insurance where our Advisors can purchase E&O insurance at very competitive rates.
